With railroads and deep-water ports, the city was an ideal destination for car manufacturers, and in 1916, most major American car manufacturers had a home base there.
Kissel Uptown Oakland’s automotive roots run deep, sharing its namesake with the original showroom that once called 2401-11 Broadway home: Pacific Kissel Kar-Dean Lippi Showroom. Kissel Motor Company was founded by Louis Kissel and his sons in 1906 and lasted until 1930.
Today the hotel dazzles as a modern showcase for the city’s best with a nostalgic vibe that pays tribute to an era of decadence through high-end design and over-the-top style, while celebrating the innovative spirit that helped make Oakland a dynamic metropolitan.
